Since its beginnings on the chalk streams of England, fly fishing has enjoyed increasing popularity. This was accelerated by the publication of Norman Maclean's memoir, "A River Runs Through It," and the film based on the book. In "Above the Rise," H. G. Moser draws on a lifetime of fly fishing. The poems and prose pieces in the book cover a wide variety of subjects related to life in the waters of Montana and elsewhere in the world. Included in the book is a remembrance of days spent fishing the Big Hole River in Montana. Also included are two fictional pieces: an excerpt from a novella based on the life of a river guide and a children's story about a frog who loses his home when his pond dries up and his search for a new one with the help of a mysterious friend.
