Only three years before, the bulk of Germany's High Seas Fleet had scuttled itself in the waters of Scapa Flow, Britain's main naval base in the Orkneys, to end its humiliating internment after its surrender at the end of the Great War. The descriptions and detailed diagrams featured in this magnificent volume are based on examination and tests carried out on captured guns at the The Royal Laboratory a department within the Royal Arsenal Woolwich. This facsimile edition has been reproduced from the copy formally held by the Superintendent of Research Rl Arsenal Woolwich.
