The Alchemy Collection: The Art of Distillation by John French & Adam Goldsmith spotlights a premiere revised & brillantly restored edition of John French's Art of Distillation including original illustrations from the 1651 manuscript. Sections two, three, four, and five details methods & processes of creating a wide variety of distilled waters, spirits, oils, and acids from the three kingdoms (vegetable, animal, and mineral/metals). The sixth section describes a number of unique spagyric curiosities, experiments, and other particulars. The seventh section is entirely dedicated to experiments involving gold & silver. In this chapter John French describes to us a number of processes involving the use of silver & gold. A few are mentioned here: the aurum potabile, the tree of the philosophers, the elixir from electrum, and the stone of the philosophers.
