As ministers reach mid-life, they often look for younger or recently called pastors to mentor (or disciple) as a natural outlet for their own maturity, what Erik Erickson calls the life stage of Generativity vs. Stagnation. Pastors who invest their time and energy in the next generation experience personal growth for themselves in ways non-mentors do not. Pastors who reach out to other pastors in their community discover things about themselves and the people they seek to serve. This book provides helpful tools for mentoring, coaching or caddying others. Finally, this book aims to resource ministers' learning communities. In a day of global connection, there is no excuse for a minister to live without ongoing connection with others who share similar challenges and dreams. When pastors support and accompany fellow pastors through difficult chapters of life, this connection diffuses stress and encourages personal growth.
