Also, the author wanted to produce a book that enables people to distinguish between word usage that is inappropriate and word usage that is merely inadvisable, with "inappropriate" referring to usage not accepted by Webster's New World College Dictionary, the official dictionary of The Associated Press. "The Pro's English"contains only 145 pages of text, yet the book addresses about 700 words and expressions. Those words and expressions are not presented in an A-to-Z list. Instead, the book is divided into 10 themed chapters, each of which contains guidance on words and expressions that fit into a particular category.
